Shelfanger 1 v 1 Rickinghall In a match that was dominated by the windy conditions both teams had to settle for a share of the points. Shelfanger lad Kelvin Davies gave a good performance on his debut for his home club. The 15 year-old showed a good touch and inteligent passing in his first 60 minutes of mens football. After Rickinghall won the toss and switched the teams around the Shels knew that they would have a differcult first 45 minutes against the wind, but determined defending and a good work rate held the vistors at bay until the half hour mark when they conceeded at the back post from a floated cross. Playing a 4-3-3 formation Shelfanger did play some good counter-attacking football at times but just failed to deliver the right pass in front of goal. After the break it was Shelfangers turn to dominate proceedings but they still could not break down Rickinghalls defence and only really threatened with Stuart Mizon's in-swinging corner kicks. It was left to keeper Jon Jenkins to level the score's when his kick from 88 yards out bounced 12 yards from goal and flew over Rickinghall's keeper and into the net. Shortly afterwards striker James Casbard beat the keeper to another massive Jenkins kick only to see his lobbed effort go the wrong side of the post. In the final 15 minute's Rickinghall pushed more player's forward but were thwarted by some solid defending and goalkeeping from Jenkins. Shelfanger nearly snatched a late winner when Criag Bumfrey turned his marker 20 yards from goal only to see his effort clip the wrong side of the post.
