On The Pitch...
Since the last Newsletter in December the team's results have been very mixed. The first match of 2007 saw the Shels record a 3-0 win against Lopham Utd, then a hard fought 2-1 victory over Bungay in the Players Aid Trophy. Out of seven games played this year those are the only victory's with the remainder all ending in defeat. One main reason has been a series's of injury's to a couple of key players both sustained in January. Midfielder Huseyin Girgin suffered knee ligament damage against Lopham and defender Jon Eaton broke his elbow against Wortham, on top of that Shelfanger 'bad boy' Simon Mathews had to serve a 35 day suspension from the F.A. after being sent off against Bungay. With other players not always available it has been difficult to find a settled side let alone three subs on a Sunday morning. A good example was in the match against league leaders Wortham when we could only field 10 players. Despite giving away territory we came in at half-time leading 1-0 with James Casbard finding the net. We finally ran out of steam after 70 minutes when the home side's numerical advantage took effect and they ran out 5-1 winners, but the effort shown by all that played was a credit to them and the club.

Shelfangers F.C. Supporters Club
After the first Bingo session in December, we have held a session on the first Monday of every month since. We have experienced mixed results with the weather affecting the turnouton a very coldevening in February. But in March the numbers were up to the mid-twenty's again! After4 sessions the average profit is £33.00, so a big thank you to all who have made the effort to support us. The one question I am asked is why there are not more people from the village attending, answers on a postcard please! We have been paying out over £100 worth of prize's every session so i don't think that the prize's are too low.

Shelfanger F.C. Events
The Club will be very busy over the next few weeks planning & organising three major fund-raising events.

On Saturday 7th April we will be teaming up with the Shelfanger Youth Initiative group to hold an Easter Fair which proved so successful last year. The event starts at 2pm-4pm, at the Village Hall. There will be traditional stalls like Bean Bags, Marble's in a Pot, Tombola, etc and also a Raffle for a HUGE Easter Egg. Admission is free and refreshments will be available.

Presentation & Horse Racing Night; will be held on Saturday 5th May at the Village Hall from 7.30pm onwards. This annual event to present trophy's to the winning players is also the main fund-raising of the year. Tickets for this event will go on sale shortly and are priced at £4.00 which include a light supper.

Shelfanger Classic Car & Motorcycle Rally. In a new venture for the football club, David Cotton has been persuaded to organise a revamped Rally which he successfully developed into a major attraction at the Village Fete, on behalf of the football club. After a deserved break in 2006, this very popular Rally draws owners of Classic Cars & Motorcycles from all over East Anglia to the small South Norfolk village. This years event will be held on Saturday 16th June from 1.00pm onwards. As well as the four & two wheeled machines, their will a Car Boot Sale and a couple of other attractions to be confirmed which is hoped to draw in the crowds once again! If you would like to have a pitch at the car boot sale, pre-paid pitch's are £5.00, which can be booked at 'Toy Box Toys' & 'Cobbs Motorcycles' in Diss, or on the day £7.00. The Social Club Bar will be open for your use and food from a BBQ, and 'afternoon teas' will also be available.
